In many ways, direct primary care is a return to a simpler time when doctors charged cash for their services. Patients say they appreciate the accessibility and simplicity of the system.
Instead of billing insurers, Scott now charges patients a $79 monthly fee that covers office visits, phone calls, emails, texts and certain medical tests and procedures. Scott typically sees six patients a day, down from around 30, and spends more time at each appointment. She hired two assistants to help handle paperwork compared with working with a department of billing specialists.

“There is a lot to learn from organizations demonstrating the Triple Aim (lower costs, improved outcomes, better consumer experience). I’ve yet to see any model that more consistently delivers on the Triple Aim than Direct Primary Care.” Dave Chase, “Health Plan Rorschach Test: Direct Primary Care,” Forbes, July 2013

“The idea is deceptively simple: Pay doctors a fixed monthly fee directly instead of through the bloated insurance bureaucracy. Make the patient, rather than the paperwork, the focus of the doctor’s day. The result will be happier doctors, healthier patients and a striking reduction in wasted expense.” David Von Drehle, “Medicine Is About to Get Personal,” Time, Dec 2014
Imagine health care with no co-pays or deductibles!
Membership allows us to provide your primary care for a simple, fixed and affordable price. Much like a gym membership, it allows patients to better budget their health care finances without worrying about extra costs.
How do I combine this with my insurance and save money?
By choosing a high deductible plan with lower premiums you maintain insurance for a catastrophic event.
Here’s the thing – having a primary care physician will keep you healthier as you age.
The healthier you are the less “deductible” you spend each year.
A study in International Journal of Health Services revealed that states with more primary care physicians per capita have better health outcomes, including fewer deaths from cancer, heart disease, or stroke.
A British Medical Journal reported that using DPC services regularly resulted in a:
66% reduction in Specialist Visits
65% reduction in ER Visits
35% reduction in Hospitalizations
82% reduction in Surgeries
